This species is widely distributed through the foothills of the Himalayas, from north-west India through Nepal,

Burma, Thailand, Vietnam to southern China. It occurs at altitudes of 300-1600m.

The fragrant flowers are 5-6cm wide. Pseudobulbs 25-40cm. Intermediate conditions.
