This species is from north-eastern India, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and China. It grows in areas with seasonal climate at altitudes of 500-1000m.
The flattened club-shaped pseudobulbs are 20-40cm long, the leaves 10-20cm long and 2,5cm wide. The pleasantly fragrant flowers are 2,5-3,5cm wide.
D. sulcatum is best grown in intermediate- warm conditions with bright light. A cool dry winter rest is necessary to induce flowering. Heavy watering and fertilizing are required during the growing season!
