This is a widely distributed species. It can be found in China, India, Burma, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam  at elevations of 250-1700m.

I  find this species easy to grow and flower if given lots of water during the summer and a decided rest during the winter with a minimum temperature of 12°C. It is best grown mounted.
