Masdevallia cyclotega
Königer, Orchidee
(Hamburg) 32: 63 (1981).
Subsection Caudatae.
M. cyclotega was first collected by Jorge Meza above Huasahuasi, Peru, in 1978.
He found it on the lower, mossy branches of
trees and also terrestrially in the thick, but loose layers of shaded mossy
humus in
the high, forested, fog-enshrouded mountains at elevations of 3000-3500m.
Cultivation of this species requires a damp, cool and shady place with adequate
air movement.
Plant size 15-18cm. The flowers are 2.5cm wide and 3.5cm tall. Tails 2.5-3cm.
