M. decumana (subsection Caudatae) occurs in Peru and southeastern
altitudes of 1450-2100m.
The species name comes from the latin decumanus, meaning of large size and refers to the size of the flower in comparison to the size of the plant.
It was first collected in 1979 by Königer.
The flowers have a wingspan of 10cm. The plant grows to a height of 5cm and is best grown in intermediate - cool conditions.
